After 2 years of schmoozing with tasting bottles in Amsterdam, he was able to travel again this year to taste extensively with the winemakers there. David: 'A classic year with lots of freshness and low alcohol. Elegant wines that will be very drinkable.' Brasserie Bruis

Ever been to Bruis in Haarlem? Here they have good food with matching wines. There is a compact wine list with about 20 affordable wines by the bottle and by the glass, as well as a second wine list with classics on a level from France, Italy and the rest of the world. For guests looking for something very specific, they can draw from Ratatouille Food & Wine's wine list, which features 500 wines. Indeed, chef Jozua Jaring (pictured) and maître Bas Averdijk of star restaurant Ratatouille established Bruis as their second establishment in Haarlem a year ago. They can be found there regularly themselves. Nice to taste their three sparkling wines by the glass with a starter like steak tartare with Haarlems acid or a main course with scallops. They are Philipponnat champagne, Francesco Drusian prosecco and Copenhagen Sparkling made from tea.
