Introducing the editors

Marjolein Schuman

For almost 14 years, Marjolein Schuman has belonged to the editorial team like a ripening red wine and closely follows wine news. During a visit to Andalusia, she got a taste for sherry: in this issue, she combines sherry with Spanish dishes. She also tastes Pinot Noir from California and interviews sisters Julia and Karolina Walch, who make fresh wines in the Italian Alto Adige region.

Magda van der rijst

Magda has been managing the selection tasting from the first WINELIFE in 2009. What's involved? Coming up with a theme: this time spring light. Then request wines and invite guest tasters. Many wine tasters shuffled in earlier. This round Martijn Roos of wine bar Pinot from Breda. Furthermore, receiving bottles - thanks to all loyal senders - photographing, blinding, tasting (!), selecting winners and writing the article. It must be your wonderful work. At least, that's how Magda thinks, right down to disposing of the boxes. The winning wines are on page 69.

Petri Houweling

Although Petri Houweling has only just joined the team, she already has quite a wine life behind her. She keeps a close eye on all changes in wine, because of the changing climate. That requires a lot of tasting, but that has been no problem at all recently. Every Monday, she can be found at one or more wine tastings, always with one of those cups in hand. That's her private spittoon, it always goes with her. Read the report on page in 'expert tells' on page 82.

Evelijn van Heuven

A father with a fine wine cellar, a friend with an unprecedented passion for wine. Discovering flavours in faraway countries and, increasingly, closer to home. All this led to Evelijn van Heuven's love for the wine trade and the great enjoyment of various flavours. With over 15 years of experience in the profession, she tastes a nice selection of wines each issue for Winelife and writes about them with love. Because besides wines, writing is her passion and her life! This time in 'The Buying Guide': German wines from Rheinhessen.

Karin Leeuwenhoek

Besides being a vinologist, Karin Leeuwenhoek is also a theologian. She not only writes about everything to do with wine, but also likes to write about the even deeper matters of life. And the combination of the two is a match made in heaven. For each edition of WINELIFE, she writes a column and the Q&A page The Last Drop.
