Taylor's commemorates platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II with a 'Platinum Jubilee Very Very Old Tawny Port'

"The wines for this exceptional port have been carefully selected by winemaker David Guimaraens. And sourced from the best reserves of wood-aged wines, which have been aged since the Queen's accession to the throne." Says Adrian Bridge, Managing Director of Taylor's. He added: "We are delighted to celebrate such an exceptional commemoration with the launch of a unique port wine. The perfect glass to raise a toast to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."

The attention to detail in the cellars is reflected in the flavour of this extraordinary wine. With notes of aniseed, marzipan, quince and subtle hints of butterscotch. Decades of ageing in wood have concentrated this wine almost to an essence. Which yields intense, complex nutty and spicy aromas. Complemented by a refined acidity that gives the wine an attractive freshness.

The Taylor's Platinum Jubilee Very Very Old Tawny Port is presented in the classically matted Taylor's Aged Tawny bottle. And comes in an elegant beechwood case. A total of 2,500 bottles will be made, of which only 500 will be available outside the UK. The very limited edition will be available from April at better wine retailers, with a suggested retail price of €460.

About Taylor's Port

Taylor's is one of the oldest historic port wine houses, founded in 1692. A family-run business, it specialises in producing port of the highest quality - from the planting of the vines to the production, ageing and bottling of the wines. The family has long been committed to protecting the unique nature of the Douro Valley by promoting responsible and sustainable viticulture.

The company is best known for its elegant Vintage ports, which are among the most sought-after and collectible ports, from the famous Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta Terra Feita and Quinta Junco. The house created L.B.V. (Late Bottled Vintage), a style the company pioneered and of which it is still the leading producer. In addition, Taylor's pioneered Chip Dry White Port and also launched the first Single Quinta Vintage Port.
