Familiar as ever: JP. Chenet

'Can you tell me a bit more about JP. Chenet?' This question rolled into my mailbox recently. One Evelien was the sender. That got me thinking. Because of course I know JP. Chenet. In my student days, bottles of JP. Chenet invariably stood on the table, initially filled with wine and then as candle sticks. Which, incidentally, was not at all convenient, because in those days the necks were still skewed on the bottle, causing the candles to drip nicely on the table. But we cared very little about that at the time.

Shutter advertising
After student days, the Netherlands' first own soap opera Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden began. Sneak advertising was then still generously allowed and soon JP. Chenet was on the tables of Arnie, Peter and so on. This made the brand enormously famous. Because Chenet ís a brand and and there are not that many wine brands. The wine landscape has traditionally been extremely fragmented with a huge number of small wineries, but JP. Chenet can serve a huge market.
