German winegrowers offer motorhome sites

Travel warnings within Europe have been lifted and there is a lot of interest in holiday destinations in Germany. For this reason, the Deutsche Weininstitut (DWI) has surveyed motorhome sites in all 13 German wine regions.

What could be better than travelling around picturesque landscapes with vineyards by motorhome and combining the pleasant with the useful? So you can enjoy nature and good wine.

"After an initial survey of German winegrowers, we found 35 companies that offer holidaymakers the opportunity to spend the night in their camper vans with them," said Monika Reule, director of the Deutsche Weininstitut (DWI, the German Wine Institute). "And there are probably many more winegrowers willing to do so. But from three pitches onwards, winegrowers need planning permission to actively rent out pitches." Surely this is a certain hurdle. Camper owners generally have as a minimum requirement electricity and water connections.

Holidaymakers travelling by motorhome cannot only enjoy the many wine routes found in almost every wine region. Other popular travel destinations include 'the most beautiful views of vineyards', 'highlights of wine culture' and Germany's 'award-winning vineyards'.

Wine producers can add RV sites not yet listed to the DWI database under 'accommodation options' at any time. Those eager to travel will find information on accommodation options and other services provided by wineries in the relevant database of wine producers.
