We sat front row and the view of celebrity chef Carlo Cracco almost made us forget we were here to learn something. After all, why this webinar? 'To promote and safeguard the value of authentic Italian food products all over the world', according to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. That tomatoes, olive oil and spices are sometimes not as Italian as they pretend to be, we knew. There is a lot of counterfeiting on the market. The Keuringsdienst van Waarde recently went to investigate the cheese Parrano (made in Holland), but even a kitchen brand like Boretti (made in Asia) freely uses Italy's good culinary name.

Theory

Chef Cracco was thus enlisted this day to honour local traditions and cook with authentic ingredients. He already reached all Italian households through cooking programmes such as MasterChef Italia and Hell's Kitchen Italia. In Milan, he runs his own restaurant Cracco, including a Michelin star. The webinar starts with a long introduction by representatives of the Italian Chambers of Commerce and the Italian ambassadors in the three Benelux countries.
