World Wine Awards  

The largest and most influential wine competition once again has many winners. The best wine experts from around the world, including 44 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers, and the rigorous judging process of the Decanter World Wine Awards do ensure that, as a wine, you do not get away with a flat taste or lukewarm aftertaste...

Champagne!

The World Wine Awards' most prestigious medal - Best in Show - was hung on 50 bottles. While last year there was only one bottle among them with 98 out of 100 points, now there were six bottles, including three Spanish and... a champagne!

Blind trials

At this year's The World Blind Tasting Championship, the Netherlands came fourth. That is the highest position ever achieved by a Dutch team! Juliette Zandbergen, Kim van der Linde-Bruggink, Jesper Moonen, Jaap Baan and their coach Maxime Zandbergen can be proud. To be the youngest team by far among the ironclad participants of 27 teams from all over the world also commanded a lot of respect in France....

Not gender neutral

The Golden Calf may have become gender-neutral, and other film awards followed suit, but there will always be fields where women should be put in the limelight. The third edition of the election to Wine Woman of the Year therefore had another festive finale. It was won by Claudia van Dongen. She is a registered wine teacher, a registered wine vintner, a wine inspector, a wine buyer, a wine teacher and founder of a B2B platform where buyers and winemakers meet.
