Corona does away with Wine Bar

Vindom Wine Bar in Oldenzaal is to close its doors. The congenial little wine bar at the foot of Oldenzaal's St Plechelmus Basilica has not lost out on the beer brand, but it has lost out on the virus of the same name. Total lockdown for the on-trade and strict one-and-a-half-meter rules meant Vindom is calling it quits after five successful years. However, the wine shop with the eponymous name will remain.

Patrick Hagen is closing his Wine Bar with regret in his heart but cannot help himself: "The small scale and intimate atmosphere were an important foundation all these years. Now that is working against us." The closure is final, adds the wine connoisseur, who last year started a wine shop in the Oldenzaal city centre under the name Vindom Wine Boutique. With a wide and varied range of wines and related distillates, the Wine Boutique is now a popular place for wine lovers. For aficionado Patrick Hagen, it is at the same time the opportunity to convey his passion and love for wines. "Vindom Wine Boutique, like the Wine Bar, is modest in size, but very special because of the wines we present." Now that he can fully concentrate on selling wines, he is also bursting with plans: "We are going to organise tastings here under the guidance of a Vinologist. Telling about wine and tasting, that remains fantastic."
