Flavours of dark chocolate, a pinch of tobacco, edge of espresso, strawberry, plum and slightly parched cherry. All this characterises a rară neagră wine. It probably sounds unfamiliar, and it is. In fact, this is the national blue, indigenous Moldovan grape, and its name means 'rare black' in Romanian. Never tasted it before? It is similar to a New World Pinot Noir, but slightly spicier. The theme of this WINELIFE is 'from afar', so wines from Moldova cannot be left behind in this Plus & Premium box. The wine is made by Château Purcari, where, at a very short distance from the border with Ukraine, they continue to unflinchingly make beautiful wines. They have been doing so since 1827, the year they started with their winemaking tradition. As far as we are concerned, they will continue this for a long time to come!
