Ramón Roqueta, Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Spain

The Ramón Roqueta Reserva is an elegant blend of tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon that has aged for 3 years, 12 months of which were in American and French oak barrels. This wine expresses itself in the glass with rich aromatic complexity and seductive aromas of cherries, spices and vanilla. In the finish, you taste a hint of balsamic. Cabernet provides firmness, while tempranillo makes the wine a little softer and rounder. Not only delicious as an aperitif, but especially as an accompaniment to roasted meats, stews or harder cheeses.

The history of the Ramón Roqueta winery goes back 120 years and five generations. The Manresa-based winery was founded in 1898 by Ramón Roqueta Torrentó, an enterprising and resourceful businessman. Whereas family-run businesses - also in winemaking - usually start small, success sometimes takes off and they grow into large companies with many hectares of vineyards and multiple wineries in different provenance areas. Catalonia's Ramón Roqueta is a good example. Its wines were so popular after its establishment that the company gradually expanded to include domains in several parts of Catalunya. Despite their growth and pursuit of technically perfect wines, the Roqueta family has always stayed true to and even revived the traditions of their native region. The wines have a modern, fruity character and are made from authentic grapes from the region. The specific origin can be tasted in every bottle.
