Val delle Rose: Cecchi's Maremma Soul

Val delle Rose: Cecchi's Maremma Soul

Val delle Rose is an estate located in Maremma and owned by Cecchi. Eén of the most prestigious wineries in southern Tuscany, with over a hundred years of history. It is the cradle of pristine nature, where vineyards and wines tell a story. Of redemption, power, beauty and potential. The vineyards grow on hills near the sea with soils rich in sediments, basking in the sun and caressed by the wind. The excellent wines produced are complex and intense, revealing an acid and mineral component that shape their elegance and character. - TEXT + IMAGE VAL DELLE ROSE

Val delle Rose: Cecchi's Maremma Soul

Sangiovese and Vermentino are the symbol of an area suspended between land and sea, the new Italian frontier of high-quality viticulture

Val

Val delle Rose, acquired in 1996 with just 25 hectares of vineyards, is now an elegant winery open for tours with 113 hectares of its own vineyards. Located in the small town of Poggio la Mozza, in the municipality of Grosseto. The heart of the Morellino di Scansano Docg and elegant white wines based on Vermentino.

Val delle Rose is an experience, a journey to discover a unique, wild and poignant corner of Tuscany. This enchanting estate consists of more than 2,000 m² dedicated to hospitality, surrounded by vineyards situated between 50 and 150 metres asl and under organic management. In line with the standards of sustainable agriculture.

The production is focused on delivering contemporary wines that are true to the territory. Pleasantly complex and fresh, characterised by a modern and captivating flavour, and an ideal pairing for a wide range of dishes. To enhance the different characteristics of the soil, the winery has chosen to carry out targeted vinification processes. Those aimed at identifying the best combination between plot and grape variety: the vines are harvested individually and kept separate until final blending.

The wines

ValFrom the 10 hectares of the winery's main vineyard, Poggio al Leone, come Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to produce Morellino di Scansano Riserva Docg Poggio al Leone. This persistent and structured wine reveals the full power of Maremma's Sangiovese. After aging for 12 months in barrique and about nine in bottle. Another remarkable label is Morellino di Scansano Docg. A wine that recalls Maremma's most seductive, elegant and rich soul with an explosion of fruity and spicy sensations that make for a pleasing wine that goes perfectly with any dish.

ValValThe Litoral vineyard, rich in skeletal grains, yields vermentino grapes for two Maremma Toscana Vermentino Doc labels. Which reveal strikingly different souls. Cobalto is deep and juicy, characterised by intense hints of Mediterranean scrub and a slight salinity. The wine undergoes a truly unique refining process: a portion ages in cocciopesto, another refines in wood and another in stainless steel. There is also Litorale, the estate's first white wine and the first label with organic certification. Fruit of attentive listening and improvement of the territory, this is a very fresh and extremely pleasant wine. Litorale is intense and rich, revealing great structure and minerality, with hints of ripe summer fruit and a clear aromatic component combined with a pleasant persistence.
