Second nomination wine woman of the year 2022 goes to Jolande Vos

On Monday 7 March, the Wine Woman of the Year Foundation announced Jolande Vos as the second nominee for the title Wine Woman of the Year 2022. - TEXT + IMAGE EDITORS

This was announced at the 20e edition of Wine Fair Wine Professional at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam. By Barbara Verbeek and Clarissa Slingerland, initiators of the foundation. Each nomination is linked to a beautiful wine brand from the porfolio of main sponsor wine and spirits distributor Walraven Sax, matching Wijnvrouw. The second nomination featured Mouton Cadet from winery Baron Philippe de Rothschild. These gave a short masterclass for the occasion. Finally, after four rounds of nominations, the grand finale will take place in September during the hospitality trade fair Gastvrij Rotterdam. In the Wine Theatre, the Wine Woman of the Year 2022 will be named during an exciting final show.

Jury report

According to the judges, the name of her website: 'I love food and Wine', not a word lied. As a wine expert and recipe writer, she knows how to make wine and food accessible to a wide audience through her website in an inspiring way. This wine woman is versatile, enterprising, enthusiastic, a go-getter and tireless. The jury finds Jolande very enterprising, broadly oriented, very active in the wine world and always present at events that matter. In addition, she is modest and always has a radiant smile! For these reasons, Jolande is a good contender for Wine Woman of the Year 2022.

About Jolande Vos

Jolande Vos (1958) trained as a dietician and began her career in food journalism. After several positions in reaction from TIP Culinair, AllerHande and TV guides TeleVizier and Troskompas, among others, she wrote restaurant reviews for 'Lekker' magazine and Golf magazine. Since 2007, Jolande has been a vinologist and in 2015 she started her online platform 'I Love Food & Wine'. On it, she inspires her readers to cook delicious food accompanied by a good, matching glass of wine. In six years, she has grown her online reach to 89,000 unique visitors per month by delivering quality content daily.

Foodpairing is her passion and life, as is wine tasting and judging. For many years, she has participated in the Vinologist of the Year competition organised by the Vereniging Vinologen Nederland (VVN). In 2016, she won the Grand Prix Saint Hubert; a prestigious competition in blind tasting. In addition to her daily work for her website, Jolande writes the wine and food section of WINELIFE magazine. And organises culinary wine tours for the VVN and its followers.

Road to the final

The professional jury of Wine Woman of the Year 2022 consists of Birthe van Meegeren (winner Wine Woman of the Year 2019), Magda van der Rijst (winner Wine Woman of the Year 2020), Claudia van Dongen (winner Wine Woman of the Year 2021) and Barbara Verbeek. The final will take place during Gastvrij Rotterdam in September 2022. Not only the jury of wine professionals will determine the final winner. After the announcement of the final nominee, the public can vote via www.wijnvrouwvanhetjaar.nl.

Walraven Sax

Baron Philippe de Rothschild

Wine Woman's second nomination was paired with Mouton Cadet from the famous winery Baron Philippe de Rothschild. In the heart of Bordeaux, the wine heart of the famous Rothschild family has been beating here for generations. Since 1933, the family business has been motivated by a constant ambition. To make the best wines in the world, each in its own category. That applies both to its châteaux wines, including the famous Château Mouton Rothschild. As for its branded wines: Mouton Cadet, the world's best-selling Bordeaux wine, and the Chilean wines Escudo Rojo and Mapu.
