Raw edge

We at the editors love wines with a raw edge, but also labels with a dark side. The black-and-white photos on the bottles of wine brand 19 Crimes show rebels and poets sentenced to punishment for committing one of 19 Crimes. They were put on transport to Australia, but the exile did not break their spirit, according to 19 Crimes. And that can be drunk on. Through a special code on the label, you can see the crooks telling their juicy stories in the penal colony, after which you can "toast to their principles".

Mousse though!

The winner of Formula 1 always gets to spray a magnum bottle. But recently it no longer contains champagne. After champagne houses Moët, Mumm and Chandon, Italy's spumante house Ferrari is the new sponsor of the races. The Italian sparkling wine has beaten the French, they claim. Because in 1902, Giulio Ferrari was the first to plant significant quantities of chardonnay in Italy to realise his dream: to make a wine that could compete with the best French champagnes. Ferrari's bubble wines are produced from grapes grown at high altitude in Trentino using sustainable farming methods.
