'Discovering new wine regions, I love it. New for me then. Colli Berici, in Italy's Venice region, has been there for years. An hour from Venice on flat roads, you enter a green, undulating world of viticulture. With a remarkable amount of reds from non-Italian grapes: merlot, carménère, cabernet, grenache. The latter they call Tai Rosso. First Tokai Rosso, but that was no longer allowed. In Colli Berici, they make very fresh, light red wines that you drink chilled. A pleasant signature of its own. Still, my favourite was a sparkling white organic wine, Vrisch from Del Rèbene. Made from garganega, second fermentation in the bottle with must (no sugar!), not disgorged. Yeasty, green apple, slightly peasant, savoury, juicy. Moreover, only 10.5% alcohol. 'Indeed: Vrisch!'
