CHUCK AND KIM CORLISS OF NORTH SHORE WINERY IN LUTSEN, MINESOTA

The dream was to retire and start making wine at home as a hobby that they would sell in the region. Meanwhile, Chuck and Kim Corliss sell 50 thousand bottles a year and there is absolutely no question of a quiet old age. 'But that's not a bad thing at all,' says the enterprising couple.

The place where it all takes place is also special. Chuck and Kim live in Lutsen, in northern Minnesota in the United States on the shores of Lake Superior. A state with no wine culture and where temperatures are too low to run a vineyard. At the University of Minnesota a few years ago, however, a grape was developed that can withstand the extreme weather conditions of the American north: the marquette. 'We don't have a home vineyard, but buy in our grapes,' Chuck explains. 'We concentrate on making and selling our wine here. We distribute our wines mainly along the Lake Superior coast and in cities like Duluth and Minneapolis.'
