Abuela Cornelie

Abuela Cornelie

You can taste that Cornelie was a special woman in Bodegas Salentein's eponymous wine series. It is a tribute to Cornelie Parlevliet-Pon, grandmother of current owners Frederike and Ben Pon.

These three Pinot Noirs, vintage 2021, are each made from a different pinot clone. The vines were on three different pieces of vineyard at 1,300 metres altitude in San Pablo IG (Valle de Uco, Argentina). Clone 667 tastes earthy and spicy with truffle and wet earth, number 115 is delicate and juicy with red cherry and wet earth, the most famous, Burgundy clone number 777, has the most body, length and a fine saltiness. Never before has the difference between clones been so clear to taste, despite being the same grape and vintage and terroir.

If you are a fan of exceptional Pinots, be quick. The global edition is limited to 620 luxury wooden boxes containing three hand-packaged wines, one per clone. Price: €349 per box.
