Wine King

Wine King

King

South African wine has been world-famous for centuries. Russian emperors and French kings drank it, Napoleon was a regular customer and Obama toasted with it when he won the election. All with good reason. Because the combination of two oceans, the oldest soil in the world and a Mediterranean climate make South Africa the ideal wine country. 'Our' Jan van Riebeeck saw this correctly when he planted vines in the colony. Now add to that a whole new generation of winemakers, who seem to be able to work magic with the different soils and different grapes. Their wines are world-class. And accessible, because they are also very attractively priced. Do yourself a favour and toast with a South African MCC bubble. Be sure to try South Africa's pride chenin blanc and be surprised by what this Barbapapa among grapes is capable of. Or choose a Chardonnay or Pinot Noir from cold Elgin and imagine yourself king(s) for a while too.
