Try January: the alternative to Dry January

Try January: the alternative to Dry January

Dry January: moderating for a while. A general break from alcohol during the first month of the year. You hear a lot about it this month and it is promoted immoderately. Fine of course, but isn't it better to use alcohol responsibly for the whole year than to have 11 months of exuberance and then try to cut it out completely for one month?

A sympathetic alternative: Try January. The idea? Try new, unknown and surprising things. Break routines, pique your curiosity and use this month to find inspiration. Leave your comfort zone and discover something new. This can range from visiting unfamiliar restaurants to trying new activities, unfamiliar wines or wine regions, new drinks (incl. 0% alternatives), or a quest for 'less but better'.

Instead of your favourite pinot grigio or merlot, try an Armenian wine, an assyrtiko wine from Santorini, a 'Pet-Nat' or English sparkling wine, or a refreshing kombucha or exciting mocktail (if you like to try something new with 0%). But of course, you may also take a wine course to discover new wines and wine regions.

Try January is a fun way to get out of your staid routine to try something really different.
