Törggelen is the tasting of young white wine with a meal. A tradition that is said to have originated as a kind of culinary thank-you from the Valle Isarco winegrowers. They were allowed to graze their animals on the mountain farmers' pastures in summer to protect their grapes from hungry mouths. In return, they were invited to a farmer's feast with plenty of white wine. Sweet chestnuts also play a starring role. They are part of the meal here.
