That’s right. In fact, 2025 was a record year for Dutch winegrowers. They produced over 1.5 million bottles of wine: almost twice as many as the previous year.

Thanks to a warm, dry and sunny summer, the grape harvest was the second-largest on record. Quality also improved. Almost one in five Dutch wines has PDO status, a record.
The Netherlands now has 220 vineyards covering some 350 hectares, a figure that is still growing. Anyone who thinks that good wine comes only from southern Europe is doing Dutch winemakers a disservice.
