From potato country to wine wonder: sunny Skåne is emerging as Scandinavia's new wine region!

Wine from Sweden? Yes, and especially in sunny Skåne, where viticulture has quietly blossomed in recent decades. This region in southern Sweden is now the beating heart of the Scandinavian wine world.

Since the 1990s, pioneers in Skåne have been experimenting with grape varieties that can take a beating, such as solaris and souvignier gris. Thanks to the mild climate and long summer days, surprising fresh white wines, elegant sparkling styles and even exciting natural wines flourish here.

We already tasted a crisp natural wine of solaris from Hällåkra Vingård and a rich, full-bodied souvignier gris from Kullabergs Vingård ourselves. Other up-and-coming wineries include Thora, Åhus and Vejby - all unique ánd welcoming.

Good news

Since 1 June, wine in Sweden may not only be sold through Systembolaget's state-owned shops, but also directly from the winery. That suddenly makes planning a trip through Skåne a lot more attractive.

Skåne's charm is not only in the glass, but also in the experience. Especially with some 30 wine producers already operating in this southern region, it is a perfect summer tip for lovers of Scandinavia AND wine. Combine tasting with walks along the coast, visit a wine dinner or spend the night among the vines. For those who love cool climates, long light evenings ánd surprising flavours, Skåne is a destination to remember this summer.
