For generations, their family business has been the specialist in cork production, the natural closure material for wine bottles that the whole world uses. But the Amorims do more than just cork. In recent years, they have also passionately entered the world of wine. With love for their land and an eye for quality, they invested in special vineyards, including the beautiful Taboadella estate in the Dão region. Here there is a mix of traditional grape varieties, including the rare alfrocheiro, found only in Portugal.
Luisa Amorim is the driving force behind these projects. For her, winemaking means a return to Portuguese roots, combining ancient traditions with modern winemaking techniques. Her vision? To produce authentic wines that let the character of the region and terroir speak for itself. The Alfrocheiro Reserva 'Taboadella 1255' is a fine example of this. The grape grows at an altitude of almost five hundred metres, creating fresh, fruity aromas without being heavy. So the next time you pour this wine, you know you are tasting from a special grape ánd the story of a family that brings a piece of Portugal into your glass with passion and respect for tradition.
