Johan Cruijf loved wine, Spanish wine especially, and apparently so do other footballers. David Silva, former Manchester City player, even has his own vineyard.

He bought these from his undoubtedly generous income, in Gran Canaria, where he is from. The island has not been known for its high quality wines in the past, but David wants to change this with Tamerán.

He enlisted the help of Jonatan Garcia, winemaker on Tenerife where there is similar volcanic soil. Jonatan and David had become friends after David tasted Jonatan's wine during his time in Manchester. Long story short: the first vintage was in 2020, became a favourite in restaurants and now the wines are also available to us and in Belgium. At star restaurant Hert in Turnhout and in some wine shops, such as Bar àPart of ex-pro footballer Rocky Peeters. Salty, mineral, smoky: you can taste the volcanic origin.
