The Rhône Valley is said to be France's oldest wine region. In 600 BC, the Greeks were already practising viticulture on the fertile banks of the river. In the village of Sarrians, not far above Avignon, it is now the Carichon family who look after their vineyards without disturbing nature.

Perhaps because grandfather Rémy, who once started out as a grower of plants - including young vines - knew how important healthy soil is for healthy fruit? Edouard Carichon, the 3rd generation, and his father Charles who continued the Brunely winery, for example, do not control weeds chemically, but by planting a special grass layer between the rows, which also promotes soil life.
