Lafite-Rothschild was one of the first European families to open a winery in Chile in 1988. Baron Eric Rothschild says: 'Being a pioneer in Chile was an exciting challenge, but we chose a wonderful location.' Lafite-Rothschild is a name every wine lover knows. Lafite is a big name in Bordeaux and one of five Premier Grand Cru Classés. Lafite is now much more than that, it is a wine company with branches in Bordeaux, Chablis, Corbières and in other countries.
CORE BUSINESS
Lafite has five châteaux in Bordeaux: Lafite of course, Duhart-Milon, Rieussec, L'Evangile and Paradis Casseuil (in Entre-Deux-Mers). The house also has five domaines: d'Aussières in Corbières, William Fèvre in Chablis, Long Dai in China, CARO in Mendoza and Los Vascos in Chile. And that is not all, as Lafite-Rothschild also created two wine brands in Bordeaux: Les Légendes R and Saga R. That is another story in its own right, about which another time. Clearly, wine-making is core business for Lafite-Rothschild. And Los Vascos is the Chilean offshoot of the Lafite tribe. Everything at Los Vascos is down to the last detail. The vineyards, the natural beauty, the animals. Everything is thought of.
