The Lyrebird is an Australian corkscrew named after the lyrebird. Like this colourful feathered friend, this functional piece of art is a feast for the eyes.

From a Kickstarter project by the friends Ramon and Shannon, where 43,300 euros was contributed by 294 'backers', three versions have emerged. All with an opener made of titanium and a handle made of G10, an extremely strong material made of layers of fibreglass in epoxy. One but, it lacks that handy extra kick that makes even the most basic kelner knives so useful. That bit that looks like it is meant to pop beer caps off bottles. The length of the handle partly compensates for that lack. Shannon, son of a blacksmith, and Ramon, obsessed with cooking and former participant in MasterChef Australia, by the way, also make beautiful knives. Going to test them too.
