Today we are not making any soixante-neuf but a soixante-quinze. This French cocktail, called French 75 in the bartending scene, is traditionally made from gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar.

It dates back to World War I, when in 1915 barman Harry MacElhone invented the combination at the New York Bar in Paris. It is said to have given such a kick that it felt like being shot at with the then modern and powerful French 75 mm cannon. This version is just as bubbly, bitter, sweet and sour and were given to us by our French rosé provider Maison Mirabeau.

The winery is still owned by a family that moved from England to Provence to make the best rosé wine in the world. They now also make a spicy, dry, pale pink gin, so that's win-win.
