Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

The Los Vascos wines all have the distinctive silky texture and elegance that Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR Lafite) is so well known for. So does the Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that is particularly good value for money. The nose is rich, with aromas of fresh plum, cherry and blackcurrant. These fruit aromas blend harmoniously with notes of liquorice and white pepper. The palate is full and juicy, with a hint of spiciness and a silky tannic structure.

Thirty years ago, Baron Eric de Rothschild fell in love with a winery in Chile's Colchagua Valley. He found an oasis of greenery there, with the mighty Andes in the background. The famous wine producer was immediately sold and saw unique opportunities on this Chilean terroir. It was the start of the Los Vascos story, written by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). Viña Los Vascos, as the winery is fully called, is part of DBR Lafite: a group of wineries based on the world-famous Château Lafite Rothschild (Premier Cru Classé), which was already considered the best vineyard in Bordeaux in the 18th century.

Located over 120 metres above sea level and about 40 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyards enjoy a constant cooling breeze from the sea. This breeze tempers the heat during the summer months and in winter the area is frost-free. Due to the significant temperature differences between day and night, the grapes ripen slowly and are given every opportunity to develop their full aroma potential.
