Beautiful and rare wines went under the hammer at auction house Christie's this spring, culminating in a collection of Grand Cru Bourgognes.

The auction raised more than €2 million, €2,340,000 to be exact. Sale prices were above previous estimates. Collectors are again aiming more at the most established brands on the market, which are likely to retain their value. We previously wrote in WINELIFE that this is due to the downturn in the wine market in 2023. And if you look for a safe haven you quickly end up with Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (often also abbreviated as DRC) of which quite a few lots (lots) were auctioned. The estate produces eight different wines from eight parcels, each with Grand Cru status. For example, a lot of DRC La Tâche Grand Cru 2015 sold for €14,500. Three in a row, that is, but still nearly €5,000 per bottle.
