Det glas er smukt!

'My products have to be instantly attractive and pleasant to use,' says Hans-Christian Bauer (1980). This industrial designer and architect is from Norway, studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and then stuck around Denmark. His glassware is fortunately also sent to the Netherlands, because we love it (smuk) during and after our green Christmas.

 Nostalgia

Add a touch of romance to Christmas with this green-coloured vintage tablecloth from Laura Ashley. Originally a tableware brand with romantic-English designs, it combines traditional elements, Victorian details, floral prints and the use of natural fabrics. So which fabric is this? A mix of cotton, linen and polyester: high quality that lasts.

Ironclad

Zuiver's Glam table is reminiscent of an upside-down wine glass. The glazed top and golden rim exude luxury, while the steel and iron make it strong. It can hold up to 15 kilos - that's 32 bottles of wine. Zuiver is a Dutch company, based in Westzaan, which attracts designers from all over the world. 'We create products for your home, treating our planet with the utmost respect,' says creative director Caroline van Velze.

The head off

It is still not easy to knock the cork and part of the neck off the bottle without splinters of glass! Sabring originated in the time of the Russian Cossacks and Napoleon, a major consumer of the fizzy drink of victory. Mastering this spectacular art are the members of the brotherhood Confrérie du Sabre d'Or. At the newly held NK Sabre 2023, Ruud van Rosmalen performed the most graceful sabrage.

In style

Within Ralph Laurens equestrian-inspired empire, you will now find this champagne cooler. Made of stainless steel and with two detachable saddle leather handles. You can lift your bottle of bubbles with it, for instance when you are happy that your favourite horse won the race at Duindigt in Wassenaar, but you can also hang the matching ice cream scoop in the handle.

Stack it up!

Handy, a stackable wine rack for when your bottle collection expands. Stockholm-based furniture company Massproductions focuses on sustainable, efficient and high-quality industrial production. Founder and designer Chris Martin explains the name in more detail: 'Even the most sophisticated products in our lives come from mass production, from a Bic ballpoint to a car designed to last. It's about high quality in high volumes.'

Chop away!

Everything is bigger in America! This chopping board weighs almost 8 kilos! So it can also be used as a chopping block for your poultry at Christmas and has a deep juice groove and stainless steel collection tray for meat juices and cutting waste for that purpose. Fun story: John Boos & Co. in Illinois was founded as a blacksmith shop in 1887. Their wooden chopping block, intended to absorb the hard blows of the blacksmith's hammer, soon attracted the interest of the local butcher. The chopping blocks made their way to Europe in 1900, at the Paris World's Fair, and you can now find them in restaurant kitchens worldwide.

Villeroy & Boch has been around since 1748, but with their collections under the Like brand, they are now targeting a younger audience. This coupe for champagne or desserts comes in resounding colours like sage, lavender, clay, clay, grape, ice and apricot. For the development of aromas and bubbles in the wine, tulip-shaped glasses are better, but the coupe and flûte remain nice for festive moments.
