Long live the king!

Mark Bertrand loves Italy. He loves the country, the culture, the crowds, the chaos, the hand gestures, the food and especially the wines. For him, wine is more than the product in a bottle. For Mark, it is an experience, waiting to be opened. He goes in search of the story behind the wine and likes to take you on that journey of discovery.

The leaves are falling, the clocks have been set back and temperatures are really cooling down: autumn is here in full force. And even now, this season gives us its most beautiful version. You see the most beautiful panoramic pictures with all its colours and when we walk along the water, we always sit down to look at the picturesque at sunset. For myself, autumn especially means that it is slowly but surely time to start looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

Piedmont

Okay, so the holidays. I always like then to go full on 'red' but red with its own signature, with its own character. And soon I turn to Piedmont, my favourite wine region. I love the fact that the roots have had to work hard to get through the hard soil. It gives the wine more depth, more character and then this guy is sold. So was I when I struck up a conversation with wine producer Matteo Alario at the Verona wine fair, Vinitaly.
