Weekend of the Rolling Kitchens 25 to 29 May 2022

From Wednesday 25 May to Sunday 29 May, Amsterdam's Westerpark will be transformed into Europe's largest open-air restaurant for the fourteenth time. More than 100 carefully selected Rolling Kitchens, will roll onto the large lawn for this free neighbourhood festival over the extra-long Ascension weekend.

Neighbourhood festival

Young, old, local or from far away: everyone can finally enjoy locally prepared delicacies under the sun or stars again. As always, great care has been taken to select (inter)national Rolling Kitchens. So you can get lost with an exotic bite out of hand, relax with a nice plate at the table, toast with a special beer or get interesting with an (affordable!) glass of top wine. Throughout the Weekend, all kitchens and larger stages provide live performances, so that every musical taste is also catered for in abundance Yonina de Ruijter, director of the Rollende Keukens Foundation: "It's great that what started as a party for park and neighbourhood in 2008 is still attended by such a large part of our neighbours! I think this is a direct result of the low-threshold nature of the event and the diversity of food, music and visitors."

Enough remains as it was after the two-year break: despite a fence and entrance gate, entry remains free for all, the colourful bars still do not work with coins (PIN ONLY!) and your purchased glass remains your souvenir. But there is also plenty of news on the menu. A number of historical (circus) tents will rise with new delicacies, for instance. Also this year, the mother of all Rolling Kitchens the Cantina Moblilé will serve a tasting curated by the neighbourhood chefs of Market Grind, the fortnightly community dinner in the monumental Central Market Hall at the Food Center Amsterdam.

The Weekend of Rolling Kitchens takes place on the event grounds of Amsterdam's Westerpark, adjacent to the historic Westergasfabriek.
